Wholesale Bakery Production Manager

Are you passionate about baking and leading a talented team to create handcrafted artisan bread products?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated bakery Production Manager to join our esteemed wholesale bakery, overseeing and managing our production operation.

About us: The European Bakery has been supplying many café’s, restaurants, hotels & caterers in the lower south island with the highest quality baked goods for over 19 years. We take pride in using only the finest ingredients, perfected recipes, and a commitment to excellence. With a dedicated team and a growing customer base, we have also expanded into retail markets through our own shop in Queenstown and many supermarkets, offering our delightful creations to business and individual customers alike.

Key Responsibilities:
– Oversee and coordinate the production operations by ensuring efficient high-quality baked goods for both wholesale and retail channels.
– The overall accountability of managing 1 team leader and 15-20 production team, guiding them to deliver exceptional results and fostering a positive work environment.
– Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure products consistently meet our bakery’s standard in taste, texture, appearance, and safety.
– Collaborate with our General Manager & owners to align production with customer demand, market trends, and promotional activities.
– Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure timely fulfilment of both wholesale and retail orders.
– Have a passion for food, health & environmental safety that naturally creates an environment where compliance measures are met through robust processes.
– Deliver exceptional cleaning standards through robust day-to-day, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and monitor deliver standards.
– Monitor inventory by working with our Training & Operations Manager to guarantee a reliable supply of top-quality ingredients and supplies.
– Optimise production processes, identifying areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maximise productivity.
– Work alongside the Training & Operations Manager to identify production staff training needs, establish training & development plans and oversee training to ensure we build and maintain a skilled production team.
– Work alongside the Training & Operations Manager to implement an effective maintenance programme to keep the bakery plant operating.

– Excellent time management and organisational skills whilst operating comfortably in a fast paced environment.
– Proven experience in controlling production costs, employee wages and introducing tactical initiatives.

Qualifications/Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree, Diploma or L4 certificate in craft bakery – or equivalent
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in bakery production management, including experience in managing a medium size team with a diverse background and experience.

Application Process: interviews will consist of a 3 stage process, the first with a face to face interview with the owners & General Manager, followed by 2 separate 1 day work trials.
